LIVE streaming at YouTube 18:30 (UK time), 19 January 2021. Summary: ‘The aquatic environment is in a period of rapid changed with increasing temperature, decreasing oxygen, floods and surges and pollution. Our lab studies the impact of these changes on the animals living there and tries to understand traits and mechanism that allow animals to adapt and survive. In this talk I am going to share 3 short stories where we have investigated the impact of climate change on fish. The first is about an iconic British salmonid the brown trout and show how studies of movement and metabolism tell… Read More »LIVE Talk | Fish Physiology in an Era of Climate Change | 18:30 (UK time), 19 January 2021.
It is all about changes I am an evolutionary behavioural ecologist, a generalist, not a specialist. I get excited about many different topics and fast; but most of all, I enjoy working with aquatic organisms (mainly fish and crustaceans, marine and freshwater, in temperate and tropical environments: yes, I do not have one favoured study organism, but many). I am fascinated by behavioural adaptations and the evolution of animal mating systems and convinced that a deep knowledge of behavioural ecology and mating strategies in animals is fundamental in any program of conservation and management of biodiversity. In the last few years, I focused on two… Read More »All About Changes: colour and sex change in aquatic creatures – Dr Chiara Benvenuto
